Communal Higher Education Institution “Kremenchuk Humanitarian-Technological Academy” of the Poltava Regional Council

The history of the academy trace back to 1931, evolving from the Lokhvytsia Pedagogical Technical School to the Kremenchuk Pedagogical College, and subsequently into the Communal Higher Education Institution “Kremenchuk Academy of Humanities and Technology” of the Poltava Regional Council (the institution’s type and official name were updated in December 2024).

In 1998, the Department of Physical Education was established; in 2016, a license was obtained to train students for a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education (Physical Culture), and in 2019, the educational program was fully accredited.

Historical Chronology of Athletic Milestones and Achievements:
1999: Participation in the Women’s Volleyball Championship of Ukraine among Second League teams; 1st place in the First All-Ukrainian Cadet Games in women’s volleyball. In track and field: 1st place in heptathlon and 400-meter hurdles, alongside 2nd and 3rd places in long jump.

2000: The college team became a silver medalist at the Women’s Volleyball Championship of Ukraine (First League) and secured 5th place at the Women’s Volleyball Championship of Ukraine (Higher League).

2002: The women’s volleyball team claimed 1st place in the First All-Ukrainian Spartakiad among student youth of HEIs of the I–II accreditation levels. At the Ukrainian Junior Track and Field Championship, Anna Melnychenko became the champion in the heptathlon. The “Kremenchuk Olympus” festival was held for the first time.

2003: Ukrainian Junior Track and Field Championship: 1st place in the indoor pentathlon; 3rd place in the Ukrainian Boxing Championship. The physical education department successfully passed its state accreditation.

2004: 3rd place in the Ukrainian Judo Championship. A capital renovation of the fitness gym, shower rooms, and locker rooms was completed.

2005: 3rd place at the European Sambo Championship. Summer Games of Ukraine in Taekwondo – 2nd place; Ukrainian Basketball Championship – 3rd place.

2006: Students became medalists at the World Sambo Championship, winners of the Ukrainian Sambo Championship, and participants in the European Track and Field Championship. 3rd place in the Ukrainian Amateur Women’s Volleyball League.

2002–2006: The college consistently won the regional spartakiad among student youth of higher educational institutions of the I–II accreditation levels.

2007: Students became medalists at the Ukrainian Taekwondo Championship, winners in sambo, and contestants at the World Sambo Championship and the World Junior Armwrestling Championship.

2008: European Sambo Championship: Nadiia Kartoshkina claimed 3rd place. Construction began on a synthetic turf football pitch. A complete renovation of the physical education methodology classroom was executed, featuring a stationary projector and screen. An outdoor gym with fitness machines was built. The college secured 2nd place in the All-Ukrainian Review Contest for the best state of physical education in higher educational institutions.

2009: Grand opening of the artificial turf football pitch. Oleksandr Lyzun competed in the World Taekwondo Championship. At the European and World Sambo Championships, Nadiia Kartoshkina secured 3rd place.

2010: The college claimed 1st place in the regional spartakiad among student youth of the I–II accreditation levels. The college varsity team finished 3rd in the All-Ukrainian Youth Basketball League.

2011: Education seekers won 3rd place at the Ukrainian Judo Championship, 1st place at the Ukrainian Table Tennis Championship, and 3rd place in the All-Ukrainian Youth Basketball League.

2012: Students captured 1st place at the Ukrainian Championship and 5th place at the European Youth Taekwondo Championship; 3rd place at the Ukrainian Sambo Championship; and 5th place at the Ukrainian Women’s Table Tennis Championship (Second League). A specialized table tennis hall was constructed.

2013: 3rd place at the Ukrainian Sambo Championship; 2nd and 3rd places at the Ukrainian Judo Championship; 2nd place at the Open Cup of Ukraine in Cossack Fight (MMA); 3rd place in the Ukrainian Basketball Championship.

2014: The college team emerged as the winner of the Poltava Regional Track and Field Championship.

2015: Daria Karelina became the European Taekwondo Champion. Students won Ukrainian Championships in taekwondo and kickboxing, and became medalists in Ukrainian Championships in cycling, boxing, and track and field, alongside winning the Poltava Regional Track and Field Championship.

2016: Students became World Kickboxing Champions, medalists of the Junior Taekwondo Championships of Ukraine, and winners of the Poltava Regional Track and Field and Basketball Championships.

2011–2016: The educational institution consistently claimed 1st place in the Regional Spartakiad among HEIs of the I–II accreditation levels.

2017–2018: Retained 1st place in the Regional Spartakiad among higher educational institutions of the I–II accreditation levels.

2019: Daniil Denysenko won a silver medal at the Dragon Boat World Championship. 13 students became winners and medalists at the Championships and Cups of Ukraine, as well as All-Ukrainian tournaments in cycling, Greco-Roman wrestling, boxing, table tennis, taekwondo, track and field, basketball, and swimming. 21 students became repeat winners of regional competitions in football, equestrian sports, cycling, Greco-Roman wrestling, boxing, taekwondo, track and field, basketball, 3×3 basketball, swimming, dancesport, and table tennis.

2020: Students secured podium finishes at the Championships of Ukraine and regional tournaments in streetball, swimming, basketball, Taekwon-Do ITF, Greco-Roman wrestling, and Taekwondo WT. The college won regional tournaments in women’s volleyball and 3×3 basketball, and finished as medalists in men’s volleyball and futsal.

2021: Students became winners and medalists at the Championships of Ukraine in rhythmic gymnastics, track and field, Greco-Roman wrestling, athletic biathlon, Taekwondo WT, and swimming. 6 students won awards at the regional online event “Home-Games 2.” Varsity teams won regional tournaments in volleyball, futsal, 3×3 basketball, and table tennis.

2022: 2 athletes became winners and medalists at international Greco-Roman wrestling tournaments and track and field qualifying events; 4 won all-Ukrainian competitions in cheerleading, Taekwon-Do ITF, track and field, and rhythmic gymnastics; 16 won regional competitions in wrestling, boxing, basketball, cheerleading, football, swimming, kayaking/canoeing, judo, and gymnastics. The institution joined the national projects “Move More. Be Active for Peace”, “Active Parks – Locations of Healthy Ukraine”, the All-Ukrainian physical culture online challenge “To Victory”, the online contest “Healthy Generation – the Future of Ukraine”, the Sports Flashmob for the 31st Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence, and the regional online event “Home Games-3”. The college claimed titles in regional women’s volleyball and 3×3 basketball.

2023: 24 students became champions and medalists in individual sports at regional and Ukrainian championships, European Cups, and national tournaments. 5 students achieved the rank of Candidate for Master of Sports (CMS). Varsity teams won medals at the Poltava Region Sports Games among college students: 1st place in women’s volleyball (5th place nationally in Rivne), 1st place in 3×3 basketball, 3rd place in futsal, and 1st place in table tennis (with tennis player Anna Arefieva taking 3rd place in doubles at the Sports Games of Ukraine). The institution won the European Marathon of Physical Culture and Wellness Events #BEACTIVE within the Ukraine-Switzerland project “Acting for Health”. It also partnered in the social project “Active Parks”, the joint MES of Ukraine and UNICEF project “PORUCH” (psychosocial football support), and the All-Ukrainian project “United Ukraine” under the concept “Sport for Development”.

2024: 11 students became Champions and medalists of national tournaments in kickboxing, cheerleading, para-athletics, cycling, Taekwondo WT, Taekwon-Do ITF, and hockey. 4 students won international track and field events in long jump, secured medals at the European Taekwon-Do ITF Cup, received international ITF athlete certificates, and competed at the ISF World School Summer Gymnasiade in Bahrain (kickboxing). Varsity teams successfully competed at the Poltava Region Sports Games and the Youth Games of Ukraine: futsal (1st regionally, 5th nationally), volleyball (1st for women, 4th for men), 3×3 basketball (1st place), and table tennis (3rd place). A National Record was set during the “White Card” flashmob for the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, and another National Record was achieved during the National Workout in Vyshyvankas within the national project “Fun Physical Education 2.0 – Reload”. The college participated in the #BEACTIVE marathon, International “MOVE Week 2024”, the city run “Active Parks”, an EcoRun for plogging, and patriotic memorial runs.

2025: Students excelled internationally: International Para-Athletics Tournament (2nd place), XXIII ITF Taekwon-Do World Championship (5th place), WTKA World Kickboxing Championship (2nd and 3rd places), and obtained the 2nd Dan international ITF athlete certificate. 11 students became Champions and medalists of all-Ukrainian tournaments in kickboxing, cyclocross, cycling, rhythmic gymnastics, Taekwon-Do ITF, Taekwondo WT, WAKO kickboxing, boxing, aerial gymnastics, and rifle shooting. In the Poltava Region Sports Games, the football team took 1st place (futsal), volleyball took 3rd (men) and 1st (women), and 3×3 basketball claimed 1st place. In the municipal Student Champions League: 1st place in women’s volleyball and futsal, 2nd place in 3×3 basketball.
