The Academy boasts a profoundly powerful athletic history. Over 300 of our students and alumni have become champions and medalists at World and European Championships. Additionally, 31 are Olympic medalists, and 12 are Paralympic champions.
Viktor Savchenko – World Champion, European Champion, two-time Olympic medalist (1976, 1980), and Honored Master of Sports. We take immense pride in them and, of course, in the greatest contemporary track and field athlete, current master’s student, and 2024 Summer Olympic high jump champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh; 2012 Summer Olympic bronze medalist and sprinter Olesya Povh; 1996 Atlanta Olympic silver medalist in rowing Dina Miftakhutdinova; and 1996 Olympic sailing champions Yevhen Braslavets and Ihor Matviienko. Yaroslava Mahuchikh is also a two-time Paralympic champion in Paris and the 2026 World Athletics Indoor High Jump Champion. Nataliia Kobzar – Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine in track and field, 2024 Paris Paralympic champion in the 400m and silver medalist in the 200m, 2020 Summer Paralympic silver medalist, two-time World and European champion in the 400m, and 2023 Paris World Championship silver medalist. Yuliia Shuliar – Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine in track and field and Paralympic champion in the 400m (Paris, France). Vladyslav Bilyi – Master of Sports of Ukraine of International Class and Paralympic silver medalist in the javelin throw (Paris, France).
“The Department for Sports Development and Recreation Infrastructure at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies ensures the organization of university athletic life, alongside the management of sports facilities, wellness camps, hotel complexes, and catering establishments. Its operations are focused on establishing comfortable conditions for sports training and active recreation, while providing high-quality service for students, faculty, and university staff. The primary responsibilities include:
Coordination of athletic events, competitions, and sports club sessions for students and staff.
Management and advancement of sports infrastructure, including sports complexes, stadiums, gyms, swimming pools, and water sports stations.
Organization of operations for sports and wellness camps catering to students and staff.
Ensuring the functioning of hotels, dormitories, and temporary accommodation facilities for university guests.
Oversight of cafeterias and other catering facilities to ensure comfortable conditions and high-quality hospitality services.
Modernization of sports and wellness infrastructure in compliance with contemporary standards.
Popularization of a healthy lifestyle among the student youth.
