Mykolayiv National Agrarian University
The university operates the Department of Physical Education and Basic Combined Arms Military Training (BZVP). Its material and technical infrastructure consists of three sports halls, a fitness gym, and sports rooms in the dormitories, all equipped with the necessary athletic inventory and exercise machines, alongside outdoor sports fields located near the dormitories. The university operates recreational sections in basketball (young men and women), volleyball (young men and women), table tennis, football, kettlebell lifting, tourism, chess, and a general physical preparation group. Classes for students within these sports sections are conducted during extracurricular hours according to the training schedule. The goal of the department’s educational process is to create optimal conditions for developing students’ physical attributes, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and fostering patriotic youth through physical education and during basic military training sessions.
In line with modern conditions, the majority of mass sports events conducted at the Mykolayiv National Agrarian University are geared toward the patriotic development of student youth. With the aim of facilitating patriotic and physical education among students, and within the framework of the “Side by Side” (Plich-o-plich) All-Ukrainian project supported by the President of Ukraine, the university organizes practical administrative measures, namely: on October 22, 2025, the sports hall of the main academic building hosted the “Nation’s Strength in Unity” competitions among first-year higher education students from the university faculties and the Technological and Economic Professional College of MNAU (VSP TEFK MNAU). Within the first stage of the university spartakiad, table tennis competitions were held among first-year students, featuring teams from the faculties and the college. On November 10, 2025, the MNAU First-Year Individual Table Tennis Championship took place, followed by first-year team volleyball competitions on November 19, 2025.
In execution of the directive issued by the State Institution “All-Ukrainian Center of Physical Health of the Population,” the Agency of School, Student, and Mass Sports of Ukraine, and the Mass Sports Management in the Mykolaiv Region of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine titled “On conducting the regional stage of the All-Ukrainian physical culture and wellness event among higher education students ‘Student Games’ for the 2025–2026 academic year,” aimed at motivating student youth toward a healthy and active lifestyle and popularizing sports in educational institutions, the following was conducted: on November 25, 2025, based at the Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University, the “DriveFEST” physical culture and wellness event took place, where the MNAU varsity team secured 3rd place.
The performances of university athletes at the Championships of Ukraine and other competitions yielded the following achievements: the men’s varsity volleyball team participated in the Open Men’s Championship of the City of Odesa “Renaissance League 2024 – With Ukraine in My Heart,” emerging as the league champions. On October 30, 2025, the city of Uman hosted the second round of the First League of the Championship of Ukraine in volleyball among women’s teams, featuring competitors from Bila Tserkva, Dnipro, Hostomel, Uman, and Mykolaiv; playing as a member of the “Peremoha” KDYUSSH team was Hanna Mazur, a student from the Faculty of Technology of Production and Processing of Livestock Products of MNAU. On March 11, 2026, sports competitions for female students and the “Best MNAU Workout Routine” (Best Move-Up) contest were held in the sports hall of the main academic building. On March 18–19, the second stage of competitions within the “Side by Side All-Ukrainian Student Leagues” project kicked off, with the men’s and women’s varsity basketball teams of Mykolayiv NAU becoming silver medalists. On March 30, 2026, MNAU hosted the launch of the II (regional) stage of volleyball competitions within the “Side by Side All-Ukrainian Student Leagues” project among higher education students of the Mykolaiv region under the motto “Together We Win,” where the men’s varsity team claimed 1st place and the women’s team finished second. On April 3, 2026, the II (regional) stage of futsal competitions within the “Side by Side All-Ukrainian Student Leagues” project took place under the motto “Together We Win,” resulting in an honorable 2nd place for the MNAU men’s team. On March 28, the “Mykolaiv Region Run” physical culture and wellness event took place, organized by the State Institution “Mass Sports Agency of Ukraine” with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine in accordance with the Unified Calendar Plan of Physical Culture, Wellness, and Sports Events of Ukraine for 2026; the top performers among MNAU student youth were Denys Kotliar (group AM 5/1), who claimed 5th place on the 5 km distance, and Maksut Sultanov (group MEN 1/2), who finished fourth in the 10 km race.
Furthermore, Faculty of Agrotechnologies higher education students Maksym Safonov and Denys Kotliar are active players for the “Niko-Basket” team in the Superleague and Higher League, respectively. Higher education students Maksut Sultanov and Nikita Maslov of Mykolayiv National Agrarian University won the U20 Cup of Ukraine in Greco-Roman wrestling, which was held in the capital of our nation, Kyiv. Ivan Hirzhev, a student of the Faculty of Agrotechnologies, emerged as the winner of the Open Cup of the Mykolaiv Region in weightlifting on November 1, 2025. Finally, Tymur Shevchenko, a student of the Faculty of Management, became a silver medalist at the Championship of Ukraine in kickboxing, held on April 25, 2026, in the city of Brovary.
