Uman National University

Instytuts'ka St, 1, Uman', Cherkas'ka oblast, Ukraine, 20300

Sports life at Uman National University is a fundamental component of the educational process, the harmonious development, and the meaningful leisure of students. The University has an active Department of Physical Education and Sports, which trains future specialists in the field, as well as a Sports Development Centre that provides all the necessary conditions for training. Students have access to a wide range of sports clubs and activities. They can regularly participate in volleyball, basketball, football, futsal, teqball, table tennis, boxing, wrestling, chess, checkers, as well as train in the gym and engage in strength sports. From the new academic year, the University plans to open additional sports sections in other disciplines, enabling even more students to adopt an active lifestyle.
An important tradition of the University is the regular organisation of mass sports and recreational events and competitions. Every year, the University hosts large-scale student Spartakiads, competitions for first-year students, tournaments in team sports and athletics, as well as university-wide fitness activities and celebrations dedicated to the International Day of University Sport. These events not only promote a healthy lifestyle but also foster team spirit and perseverance among young people.
The University takes pride in the outstanding achievements of its students, who regularly represent the institution at city, regional, national, and international competitions. The University’s greatest accomplishments have been achieved in kettlebell sport and judo, where it has produced champions, medalists, and record holders of Ukraine and the world, while some students have even participated in the Olympic Games. University boxers demonstrate outstanding results at the national level and in professional boxing, while the University’s cyclists successfully compete in prestigious national and international cycling races. A particular source of pride is the University’s women’s football team, which is a two-time silver medalist and two-time winner of the Ukrainian Student Cup, a silver medalist of the University Games, a bronze medalist of the European Universities Championship, and the only women’s team from Ukraine to compete in the World University Championship held in China.
The University has also actively joined the first large-scale “Side by Side” project by submitting applications in all programme disciplines. Our women’s futsal team became the first-ever winner of the “Side by Side All-Ukrainian Student Leagues” among higher education institutions, competing under the victorious slogan “Together We Win.” At the same time, the men’s and women’s volleyball and basketball teams demonstrated достойну боротьбу against their opponents during the second stage of the competition, while the cheerleading team delighted spectators with a spectacular performance during the third stage of the league.
The success of our athletes is directly supported by the University’s well-developed sports infrastructure located across its two campuses. The Pedagogical Campus is equipped with a modern sports hall, an artificial turf mini-football field, volleyball and outdoor basketball courts, a workout area, a 60-metre running track, a fitness gym, and specialised facilities for wrestling, boxing, weightlifting, and table tennis. The Agrarian Campus offers students a modern sports hall, a volleyball court, an artificial turf mini-football field, and an advanced table tennis facility that regularly hosts national-level competitions.
